Best Perfumes for Women

Hi, my name is Maya and I completely understand you.

There are literally several thousand perfumes out there on the shelves and yet how do you choose the best one - for yourself or a special lady in your life?

Which perfume is the best? Will you like it later? Will she like it? Well, maybe you will, maybe you won't and maybe she will, maybe she won't.

But hey, this is not an answer to the question which perfume is the best! Can you make your perfume choice easier and less time consuming? Yes, you can. You can avoid trying all the millions and millions of perfumes on your own by finding a perfume freak who's tried a few and who'll gladly share their opinions about best perfumes with you.

Congrats! You've find a perfume freak - and that would be me ;). Assuming you haven't selected the most appropriate perfume for yourself or a special lady in your life yet or if you are only just curious, I invite you to explore which are the best women's perfumes in my opinion (follow the links below).

Wishing you a perfect perfume choice!

Disclaimer: MY Top Women's Perfume Picks

Perfume taste is like taste for wine, music or fashion - highly subjective, so a perfume that I find the most appropriate for myself (for my personality, style, skin chemistry, etc.), might not be suitable for you or for the person you are buying the perfume.

So far I've reviewed only perfumes, that are marketed as women's perfumes. However, I encourage you to wear freely whatever perfume you like, regardless of the marketed 'gender' of a perfume. There are loads of gentlemen's perfumes that smell fantastic on women. So don't be shy, experiment, and decide what perfume to wear with your nose and not with your eyes.

So, below are links to my personal selections of best perfumes for women by different criteria (e.g., holiday, age), including only top designer and celebrity women's perfumes; niche or indie perfume houses are not included.

∼ Please note, this page is a work in progress. Links to new perfume selections and new criteria will be added periodically.

Check out top perfumes of one of the most acclaimed perfume houses in the world, Chanel. Chanel perfumes are like their founder, Coco Chanel - mysterious, rebellious, independent, elegant and most of all iconic. To paraphrase Coco Chanel's own words ("Fashion fades, only style remains the same."), fashion fades, Chanel perfumes remain:

Next iconic French perfume house to check out, is Dior. To me, Dior perfumes symbolize opulence, passion, danger... Hmmm, the Poison family, J'Adore Diors and Misses Dior Chérie:

Oh, then come the beautiful, poetic, feel good perfumes by Kenzo perfume house. Beautiful, feminine, gentle perfumes like Flower, Kenzo Amour, L'Eau par Kenzo and more... World is beautiful with Kenzo perfumes:

Esoteric, fairylike Lancôme perfumes:

The queen of wedding gowns, Vera Wang, has also her own eponymous perfume line, mainly consisting of wedding perfumes. However, you don't have to get married to wear her perfumes; they're pretty much useful for many different occasions and styles:

Metropolitan fashion iconSarah Jessica Parker, the actress who played Carrie Bradshaw in the iconic HBO's Sex and the City series, is not another smellebrity (term coined by Avery Gilbert of, a celebrity just lending her face for a perfume commercial. Oh, no, SJP, the fashion icon, actively participated in the development of the perfumes in her own eponymous line. This is one of the reasons why her perfumes such as Lovely, Covet are popular with consumers as well as perfume critics. Check SJP perfumes out:

Britney Spears, the Princess of Pop, has also her own eponymous perfume line and her perfumes are very popular, especially with younger women and girls. Check out why:

Best Online Places to Buy Perfumes

My favourite online place to buy perfumes is Amazon. It is a trusted, safe place to purchase online, with a wide range of fragranced products, standard delivery (US) takes 3-5 business days and the shipping rates are reasonable. If you can't decide immediately what product to buy, you can create your own Amazon wish list, that you can check at some later time and remember your interests.

What I also like about Amazon, that you can get some awesome discounts; for example Shalimar Parfum Initial by Guerlain costs (December 2011) in my local department store $108 whereas on Amazon you can get the same perfume for $76! That's a discount of almost 30%!

Another online places I like to check when buying perfumes are and (click on the banners on the left), because they have huge selections of perfumes by different criteria and other fragranced products.

You'll also be able to find lots of testers, mini or limited editions, which sometimes are not available on Amazon. offers also tons of useful tips (beauty, gift, etc.) and gift finder and gift reminder. Check it out!
