Christian Dior creations, among them also Dior perfumes for women, have successfully engineered a remarkable brand which won the lasting fame and glory of the Dior House and its founder, Christian Dior, in the fashion world.
One of the forerunners of the French style and haute couture, Christian Dior has imparted to the fashion world exquisite renditions of feminine beauty.
A significant fashion connoisseur of 1940's and 1950's, Christian Dior dominated world of fashion with his sultry collection, New Look, and his idealism. It was a trying time for the globe when he entered the world of fashion. With the smoke of World War II still in the air, Dior launched his haute couture business on a global scale.
Christian Dior, the Founder of Christian Dior House
Born in 1905 to an affluent family, Christian Dior had the seen the world in its grim state. His birth town Granville (Lower Normandy) was in the heart of the World war II which obliged him to sign up for military service. Despite the time spent in service, his heart had always belonged to arts. After a long wait, he eventually found his way back into the life he always dreamt of - fashion.As an artist, he excelled not just in fashion but also in other facets of arts. He was a food lover who knew nothing less than balance and harmony. As a man of nature, he felt affection with the verdant colors of flowers and the lush greenery, which would soon reflect heavily on his fragrances. As a loyal friend, he has shown much respect for each one's individuality which he made apparent through his craft. His creations are indeed a celebration of who he was - a passionate man of art.
Post war, he reigned supreme in the fashion world and has soon started building his successful career. From selling fashion designs, he soon launched his own boutique at Avenue Montaigne (Paris) where the famous Dior House still stands today. It was a Serge Hefter-Louiche who convinced him to compile his earliest creations as well as to create a fashion house and fragrance collection.
Establishing Maison Dior
 | Back in 1946, the humble beginnings of Dior House (today Christian Dior S.A., based in Paris, France) has immediately stirred the fashion world. The name has emerged as an influential global brand that served as an emblem of twentieth century fashion. The French fashion house catered ready-to-wear dress that was featured in his first fashion collection of Spring/Summer 1947 dubbed as the New Look, which has re-established Paris as the post World War II fashion capital. The New Look can be defined as a silhouette of small waist, broad hips, breasts pushed up and out and rounded shoulders. By 1948, he ventured in license agreements that expounded the haute couture house into production of different luxury products, clothing, ties, lingerie, socks, furs, jewelry, perfumes, to name just a few. |
After Christian Dior's abrupt death in 1957, several fashion icons have held his post. Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, and Gianfranco Ferré were his earliest successors, John Galliano is its present head designer.
Today Dior operates globally with 160 boutiques scattered across the globe exclusively providing genuine creations from the fashion house. Today, Dior House is under the management of Bernand Arnault who is also the majority shareholder of Dior company, as well as the world's largest luxury goods company in the world, Moët Hennessy - Louis Vuitton S.A. (LVMH).
Parfums Christian Dior: Establishing the House of Dior Perfumes
In 1947 Parfums Christian Dior was created as the perfumery and make up line of Christian Dior S.A. Inspired by the success of Dior creations, Dior perfumes have been made to complement the beauty and elegance of every product under Dior brand.
The launch of Miss Dior in 1947, the first Dior perfume, revolutionized the perfumery world in a rather sweeping manner. It gained an unprecedented success due to its perfect embodiment of the prevailing feminine glamour of 1940's. Indeed, this perfume is a fitting beacon of all fragrances distributed by this fashion house.
Parfums Christian Dior takes pride for its exceptional line up of in-house perfumers, a rare privilege that only dedicated perfumery houses offer. Perfumes under this brand epitomize quality. It's a philosophy that Parfums Christian Dior holds up high. To maintain top quality of all perfumes, the Dior House maintains a close alliance with perfume noses and producers of some raw materials. François Demachy is the current Dior in-house perfumer-creator. He is a proud heir to some of the biggest names in the perfumery world that include Edmond Roudnitska, Jean Carles and Paul Vacher, to name some. The fragrance line has achieved its unique stature in the perfumery world by creating, reinventing, and interpreting fragrances that come from natural essence. Their perfumes tend to appeal women of all sorts because of the individuality that genius perfumers dedicate in each creation. The Dior House, right at its beginning, has successfully weaved fashion and beauty. Miss Dior was launched concurrently with Dior's 'New Look' in 1947. In 1956, animated by the scent of lily of the valley, the house of Dior has launched, with Edmond Roudnitska, yet another successful fragrance - Diorissimo. And in 1966, Eau Sauvage was launched as the house's first fragrance for men.
